Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were mixed at opening bell on Thursday.

Investors in India are likely to focus on further developments in the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine apart from US prosecutors' indictment of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, along with seven other, on charges of large-scale bribery and fraud in securing renewable energy supply contracts.

At 9:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77042.6 down by -535.78 points or by -0.69 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23296.95 down by -221.55 points or by -0.94 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 77711.11 and intraday low of 76802.73 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23507.3 and intraday low of 23263.15

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 320.10,+1.60%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 4066.80,+0.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1837.20,+0.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1831.00,+0.59%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10830.00,+0.51%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1160.15,-10.00%), State Bank of India (Rs. 767.50,-4.30%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 970.15,-3.00%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 358.15,-2.17%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 458.20,-1.96%), among others.
